Non-sports people

Yes, they do exist. Most of the time, I am in disbelief at how little they know. However, they can be very humorous.

So a friend and I went out to lunch today and the Rangers game was on. She knows nothing about baseball, so I thought I might take advantage of the fact that today was Jackie Robinson Day. I told her to watch the game, number 42 was running across the screen. She watched, and a few moments later she realized that everyone on the field was number 42. After many confused expressions, she asked why baseball was such a big Hitchhiker's fan. I explained about Jackie Robinson being the first black man to play in the major leagues in 1947. She then asked whether Babe Ruth was black.

I have a friend who was not very familiar with college athletics. I was asking her which teams she thought were in the Big 12. She got Baylor (our school), Texas A&M, and UT. I had previously explained that most conferences were fairly close in region. She guessed New York. Later, I asked her what NCAA stood for. Her response? National Coalition Against the Aggies.

This is probably my favorite story ever. I have a friend who knows little about sports. We did go to high school football games together, though, but she was always clueless. One day in class, she said that she did indeed know what was going on. I began quizzing her, asking how many points for a touchdown. 6. How many for a field goal? 3. How many for an extra point? 2.
